Grown in Uganda at a high altitude with lots of rain, it is similar to the yellow bourbon coffee grown in Brazil. It is known for its distinctive sweetness. The light roast has a lemony aftertaste with no acidity. The dark roast has a deep, sweet, rich flavor that is typical of American breakfast coffees. Not recommended for espresso or macchinetta.

A coffee harvested in the wild, mountainous region of Uganda brings to mind images of a rough, extreme terrain where gorillas dominate and man is but a temporary visitor. Once would expect coffee grown in such a wild place to also be wild and bold and tempting fate just a tad. Alas, I did not find it so. While not upsetting to the palate, this bean fails to deliver on admittedly unreasonable expectations.

I like it. Strong. Dark. Overtones of chocolate and mist.

A rich, dark, coffee drinker’s brew. Highly recommended.
